Cart abandonment rate

An e-commerce term used to describe a visitor who leaves the website after adding a product in the shopping cart before completing the transaction. In simple terms, any product that makes it to the shopping cart but is dropped by the customer before it goes through the transaction is categorised as ‘abandoned’ and used in calculating the shopping cart abandonment rate. By calculating the cart abandonment rate, online retailers can track and understand site performance, and take effective measures to lower the abandonment rate in a timely manner.
